Writing For TV and Web Series is an introductory-level exploration of basic methods of TV and Web Series writing, which will develop the students' skills in presenting ideas in written form or TV, as well as, internet-based formats for web series. Students will develop craft skills in: research, story development, scene structure, dialogue and character definition. Students will develop culminating projects ranging from short-form web series to writing a TV Bible and/or Pilot.
Formats covered will include: Pitching, Loglines & Synopsis, Treatments, Overheard Dialogue, Step Outlines, Bibles and 30 to 60 minute TV episodes. Classes will include a single-hour of lecture followed by a workshop of student material.
This course meets once a week for three hours over a eight week term.
